Remember when I was making fun of 1980s design?  This is one of the reasons for that.   I mean who wouldn’t want to be Wayne Gretzky’s “special friend”?  In an outfit like that I bet he had lots of offers.
This poster is from the Wayne Gretzky Fan Club, the inaugural welcome package of which I found in my parents’ storage locker over the Canada Day long weekend as I was visiting them.  I clearly joined when it started (founded in 1984), but other than the initial welcome package and one newsletter I never received anything else.
Also given that Gretzky went off to play in LA, the picture of him in a Dodgers uniform seems a little too perfect.  I wonder if a Time Lord had something to do with that.
